Meet The Team
Meet the Doctors
Drs. Michelle and Richard Lipshultz
The Doctors met at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine where they were doctoral students from 1981-1985. They were married in June of 1985, and Dr. Rick soon began a General Practice Residency at Newark Beth Israel Hospital. They have been in private practice in Cresskill for over 40 years, working alongside Dr. Harry Lipshultz for many of those years. The practice has been in the same location for 75 years plus.
In their free time, they enjoy playing golf, hiking, attending craft fairs, Yankee and Giant games and Broadway shows. Most of all, they enjoy spending time with their three adult children and their spouses and grandchildren.
Dr. Garrett McConville
Dr. Garrett is proud to be practicing in the community where he was raised. A Dumont native and graduate of Dumont High School, he went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Ramapo College of New Jersey.
He then pursued his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry-the first dental school in the world.
Following dental school, Dr. Garrett completed a General Practice residency at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, NJ, where he gained advanced training in comprehensive, patient-centered care.
Now living in Nutley with his husband Michael, and their Goldendoodle, Moose, Dr. Garrett is excited to be back in New Jersey serving the community he calls home. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring new restaurants, gardening and traveling.
Dr. Garrett’s connection with the practice runs deep-he has been a patient of Dr. Rick’s since childhood and credits that experience with inspiring his own commitment to high-quality, compassionate care. Since joining the team as an associate dentist in 2020, he has provided the same standard of excellence he received as a patient. He looks forward to building lasting relationships and helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles for years to come.

In Memory of Dr. Harry Lipshultz
Dr. Harry was born in New Jersey in 1923, the son of European immigrants. He was one of four children raised in very frugal surroundings during the Great Depression. His goal was to be the first member of his family to go to college and seek professional education. He worked in a pharmacy during his high school years to save money to attend NYU and continued to hold down employment throughout his college years. He applied to both Medical and Dental Schools and was accepted, but had to defer admission as he enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II to serve his country. He was fortunate to be stationed stateside throughout the war and was able to start NYU Dental School, in 1946.
He graduated in the top of his NYU Dental School first post-war class of over 350 students, married Anita, and opened his office in 1950 in Cresskill. He loved to tell the story that what is now the “Office” was the one and only home (the model) on Knickerbocker Road for miles, with plans for the builder to put up another 500 homes; he bought it on the spot with his GI Loan.
Dr. Harry practiced Dentistry in Cresskill for over 50 years. He never considered Dentistry a job; it was his hobby and his patients were all his family, and he treated everyone with kindness. His humor and humility created positive memorable experiences for multiple generations of patients.
The “Office” needed to expand in the early 1950’s so he and Anita built a small home in Tenafly where they raised their three boys. Fast forward and Steve is a physician, Rick is a dentist, and Jack is an attorney. Rick, whom most patients know as Dr. Rick has continued the “Lipshultz Dental” family tradition along with his wife Dr. Michelle.
Dr. Harry has been sadly missed by all, since his passing in 2013, at the age of 90.
